Jenna Petrelis is a Boston Based, Traveling Photographer.

   Jenna is an artist in many ways, starting out as a hair stylist, and then years later slowly growing her photography hobby and passion into a business and career she could be proud of.

 

   Jenna was born and raised in Medford, Ma. After graduating from Medford High School in 2002, she went straight to cosmetology school at New England Hair Academy. At the academy, she fell in love with making people feel beautiful about themselves, and loved the idea of giving back to the community. After 12 years of working behind the chair, Jenna suffered a torn rotator cuff, and had to have it repaired. Two months after surgery, she had even more unfortunate luck and broke both her feet. This set back sent her into a wheelchair for 3 months on top of still rehabbing a torn rotator cuff. She decided to make the best out of her downtime and picked up her camera, a hobby she had always loved and finally had the time to really explore. She began taking pictures of anything and everything. She also took online classes, and started assisting at a studio. When she got back on her feet she came to realize how much passion she had for it and wanted to take the plunge into not only making people feel beautiful about themselves, but she could also help people capture the most beautiful moments in their lives.

   She is now a professional freelance photographer and works at a hair salon part time. While most of her work is portraits and events, her first love is still landscape and nature photography. Jenna truly believes everything happens for a reason. If it weren't for that terrible luck, she would never of made the plunge to her new found career!
